B&B Manufacturing is a U.S.– and Canadian–based manufacturer of synchronous drive products that include timing belt pulleys, roller chain sprockets, gears, sheaves, pulley bar stock, flanges, QD bushings, Taper-lock bushings, and related parts for the power transmission and precision mechanical component industries. With more than 30,000 SKUs and engineer‑grade specs, they relied on a phone‑centric ordering process that tethered growth to manual effort. They connected with ATF to replace a patchwork of legacy platforms with a single BigCommerce B2B Edition storefront—paired with Akeneo PIM and custom tooling—so buyers can now spec, configure, and purchase parts online without sales‑team hand‑holding.

The Challenge

The task at hand was to consolidate multiple business systems & processes into a vastly more efficient & effective digital commerce experience. Their fragmented tech stack leveraged eight separate vendor solutions resulting in data silos, slow updates, and unwieldy maintenance costs. They lacked a single source of truth for their data for the 30K+ SKUs which led to inconsistent pricing and frequent errors. The growth of their business was being held captive by the extremely manual nature of their sales process that was bogging down their sales reps, customer service team, and leaving their customers frustrated that they couldn’t quickly find answers to basic information like pricing, availability, detailed specs, or belt configurations without a phone call. 

Additionally, B&B Manufacturing needed to optimize their international logistics to consolidate the operations of their U.S. and Canadian arms of the business.

The Solution

We implemented BigCommerce B2B Edition as the commerce platform, using customer groups, dynamic price lists, and open APIs to sync orders with B&B’s ERP in real time. A custom, mobile‑first UX features robust search, deep filtering, and a re‑engineered belt configurator to enable B2B and B2C customers to quickly and easily find what they need without needing to contact customer support.

To unify product data, we integrated Akeneo PIM and built a two‑way connector that pushes specs, pricing, and media to BigCommerce continuously. Advanced shipping integrations handle multi‑country fulfillment today and are built ready for the planned expansion of additional warehouse and fulfillment locations.
