Securing Growth

FlashRouters

+27% increase in site traffic post-launch

FlashRouters gives customers the freedom to manage their networks with open-source firmware routers. Their team researches, tests, and configures the best wireless routers to make privacy and VPN protection simple and accessible. What began as a hardware business has grown into a subscription-driven model, offering ongoing support services alongside their devices. To support this evolution, FlashRouters partnered with Above The Fray to redesign their ecommerce site with simplified subscription enrollment, reliable recurring billing, and configurable bundled products.

The Challenge

FlashRouters needed a way to require customers to select a support subscription during the checkout flow – but only when specific products were added to the cart. Their new business model included new routers bundled with support, as well as virtual products, refurbished products, and new routers that did not come with the support plans. Incorporating these rules within a single checkout flow was critical to supporting their shift toward a subscription model, driving recurring revenue without creating ongoing manual work for their team.

The Solution

Above The Fray built an Adobe Commerce site that integrated subscription functionality directly into the product and checkout experience. The solution ensured support plans were bundled where needed, while allowing flexibility for products that didn’t require them. To enhance UX/UI, we designed a clean, tabbed interface for content-heavy product detail pages, improving navigation and reducing load times. The site also introduced referral program functionality, reward points to encourage engagement, and product add-ons to increase average order value, all while simplifying FlashRouters’ operations by narrowing their integration stack to the tools that mattered most.

Project Highlights

Clean UI lets the content communicate clearly. Our fellow tech geeks rejoice with all the copy heavy PDP and CMS pages. To prevent text overload, the UX was structured with tabs and collapsed bullets – reducing load time and allowing for easier navigation of information. To the point, to the product, to the purchase. To infinity and beyond!
