Plumbing Supply

Plumbing Plans

Plumbing Supply Group has been the #1 internet plumbing supplier since 1995 when they launched their first ecommerce website. Having maintained the same website for over 20 years, they recognized that it was well past time for a refresh. They decided to use an in-house development team to build a new site and create an updated experience for their customers. Just before the new site was ready to launch, PSG came to Above The Fray looking for a third-party to review the design and code from a best practices perspective and ensure this new site would function well and provide their users with a great online experience.

The Challenge

The project was complex with a variety of product types and integrations. PSG’s in-house team that worked on the build of the new website did not include a designer or experienced Magento developers. Our 76-page in-depth site audit revealed dozens of UX/UI issues and critical code errors that would prevent the site from being easily upgradable in the future. PSG opted to have our team takeover the project starting with a full-site redesign and rebuild following best practices. We handed the project back to them for the final custom integrations with their proprietary shipping systems and deployment.

Project Highlights

The new Plumbing Supply Group site contains a variety of modern ecommerce features all designed to make it easier for customers to find what they need and buy with ease.

Category Hub Pages

With the extensive inventory of parts PSG carries, we needed a better way for customers to drill down to what they needed. We built out a new set of category and subcategory pages that made the search for parts intuitive.

Grouped Products

For customers looking for replacement parts for a specific brand, we created grouped product pages making it easy to see all of the most common repair parts in one place.

Bundled Products

We also created bundled product pages for items commonly sold together, like shower/tub systems that include the matching showerhead, valve system and faucet trim kit that can all be added to cart with one click.
